In five short years how life can change, and a business grow.
I arrived in Sydney for my cousin’s wedding in the Summer of 2010, a visit from my home in sunny Burleigh Heads, South Gold Coast, unaware that this fateful trip would change, or re-direct my life. As often with stories of transformation there is a catalyst and this beautiful catalyst was named Madeline. Our dancefloor introduction was the beginning of events that led me to uproot and resettle in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, and soon marry. Leaving a successful Physiotherapy practice in Mermaid Beach, with a strong local reputation and clinical following, Bronte was the preferred location for our new home and community.
An introduction to Trent Langlands, Matt Garry and Ryan Clark from Lifecycle Fitness was to prove another great future partnership. Starting as a loyal trainer under their unique training model, it was soon recognised that a new ‘support’ business was required.
Transforming the old Bronte chinese restaurant into a place of medical outcomes and health took the local community by surprise, and provided a humorous element at times. It was after all an impermanent position, the RSL club was to be demolished!! Little did we know that four years from the time DAs and plans would still be under discussion.
Advanz Therapies was wonderfully embraced by all who’ve needed us and the community in general, I’ve been told we’re appreciated for our good service, friendship, honest care and embracing vibe. A fitting contribution to vibrant Macpherson Street with other likeminded and excellent business offerings such as The Three Blue Ducks, Iggy’s Bread and Calipress.
Although it may take a little longer for us to have true Bronte local status, we feel right at home and love our chosen neighbourhood. Madi (Madeline) has a new and successful tutoring business Hi IQ in Bondi Junction and it’s time for Advanz Therapies to transplant our services to more permanent locations – treating from new clinics in Bronte Road and Maroubra Junction, housing our now 14 team members (and growing).
We’re excited about the changes we embark on this week. Happy in some ways to farewell the ‘historic’ quirks of the aging Bronte RSL Club – petrified spaghetti tiled ceiling, crazy psychedelic carpet and the occasional pigeon ‘visits’.
We are also sad to farewell this building and the location in the Macpherson Street community but look forward to continuing to support our clients, their families and friends in times ahead. We will ALWAYS be about Bronte and the people who live here. We love you guys, and thank you for all that we’ve shared in this time!
